Larksgrove on the Grace Bailey
Join us for four nights of island hopping and exploring with special musical guest Larksgrove followed by an exciting appearance at the Camden Windjammer Festival!
Along with the rest of the schooners in the Maine Windjammer Association, we will gather in Camden on the final night of our trip to join in on the festivities including a sail parade, passenger & crew talent show, live music and more. A community rich in Maritime history and culture, this homey, small town festival recognizes the part that these vessels play within that culture.
Blending classical and traditional music, the duo Larksgrove brings a fresh voice to the schooner setting. Their unique interpretations of the classics and novel arrangements of traditional fiddle tunes infuse their performances with inventiveness and surprise. Equally at home in the concert hall and the dance hall, Peter Zay, cello and guitar, and EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks, violin and fiddle, enjoy the challenge of playing new styles of music and difficult repertoire, and their performances reveal the comfort and delight they glean from creative collaboration. The perfect music to pair with an evening sunset at anchor in the Penobscot Bay!

About the band: EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks (violin) grew up on a farm near Chillicothe, where her first audience was a very attentive flock of sheep. From there, her violin has taken her around the world with orchestras from Brazil to Canada and Europe. Raised in the wooded Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Peter Zay (cello, guitar) cut his musical teeth playing in rock and heavy metal bands while studying classical cello and donning his tux for orchestra concerts. Now living on the East Coast, EmmaLee and Peter perform as the duo Larksgrove, savoring their creative collaboration and the challenge of new styles of music and difficult repertoire.
